Dissertation Fellowship in Humanities

This fellowship is not being offered for 2016-2017. This fellowship is funded by the UC Humanities Network, which offers fellowships at each campus for students in their dissertation year. The award carries a stipend of $25,000; the campus will supplement this with a fee remission award. It is jointly administered by the Dean of School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts and the Center for the Humanities. The award is designed to provide the student with uninterrupted time for completing their dissertation. To be eligible, a student must be in a position to complete their dissertation during the year for which the fellowship is awarded.

The application will consist of:

a. A copy of the dissertation prospectus approved by the committee

b. A report on the current status of work on the dissertation

c. A sample chapter

d. A letter from the Chair of the student’s committee attesting to the ability of the student to complete the project in the year of the fellowship.

Please note:

Fellowships will be disbursed over the academic year; students with the fellowship are eligible for summer funds in the summer before they receive it. In general, the award cannot be combined with other fellowships, TAships or GSRs.
